  For external and other staff-mounted measurements, where the probe locations (relative to the vehicle) change within the session, this measurement location indicates the location of the staff during the sample. For all vehicles, the first position is at the left front corner, and progress around the vehicle in a clockwise direction. For the cars, minivan and pickup truck, there are 8 perimeter locations, and for the bus, there are 10. For the bus, two additional locations are associated with the wheelchair lift and backdoor tests.

  1 =For all vehicles, the staff is positioned extending from the left front corner.
  2 =For all vehicles, the staff is positioned extending from the middle of the front of the vehicle.
  3 =For all vehicles, the staff is positioned extending from the right front corner.
  4 =For the cars, minivan and pickup truck, the staff is positioned extending from the middle of the right side. For the bus, the staff is positioned approximately one-third of the way back on the right side.
  5 =For the cars, minivan and pickup truck, the staff is positioned extending from the right rear corner. For the bus, the staff is positioned approximately two-thirds of the way back on the right side.
  6 =For the cars, minivan and pickup truck, the staff is positioned extending from the middle to the rear of the vehicle. For the bus, the staff is positioned extending from the right rear corner.
  7 =For the cars, minivan and pickup truck, the staff is positioned extending from the left rear corner. For the bus, the staff is positioned extending from the middle of the rear of the vehicle.
  8 =For the cars, minivan and pickup truck, the staff is positioned extending from the middle of the left side of the vehicle. For the bus, the staff is positioned extending from the left rear corner.
  9 =This code is present only for the bus, where it indicates the staff is positioned extending from the left side of the bus, approximately two-thirds of the way back.
  10 =This code is present only for the bus, where it indicates the staff is positioned extending from the left side of the bus, approximately one-third of the way back.
  11 =This code is present only for the bus, where it indicates the staff is positioned vertically on the wheelchair lift while it is operated. Note that in this measurement location, the probe usually located at a distance of 110 cm from the base of the staff, is instead located on a seat near the electronics associated with the wheelchar lift.
  12 =This code is present only for the bus, where it indicates the staff is positioned vertically on the step of the bus's backdoor while it is operated.
