  The air coil probe was used where the distance to the appliance was less than 30 centimeters. The probe was in the form of a cylindrical coil 2 centimeters long wound on a 2 cm diameter acrylic rod with small gauge enameled wire. The probe produces output voltages proportional to the magnetic flux density.
